Don't Fall to All
Luke 8:40-42 tells the story of Jairus waiting
to ask Jesus to come to his house and heal his
daughter. But he wasn't the only one with a pressing
need. According to the text, "They were all waiting for
[Jesus]."
You bet they were. Word of Jesus' many healing miracles
was spreading far and wide. The more Jesus did, the more
people wanted him to do. Yet, note how Jesus responds to
"all." Though "all" waited for him, he responded to the
request of just one. In this instance, Jesus gave himself
permission to choose one concern for the moment.
For many, September brings an increase in work, family,
and other responsibilities. As you get back into the swing
of things, resist the tyranny of too much. Though multi-
tasking seems unavoidable at times, we don't have
to make it a habit. Create your peaceful state of mind
by focusing on one matter at a time, as often as you can.
Don't fall to all!
