The story is told of a little boy with Down's syndrome who had
not gotten a hit through an entire little league baseball season.
In fact, he'd struck out each time at bat. The last game of
the season, all were amazed when the boy made contact
with the ball. The ball dribbled to the pitcher who tossed
to first for the easy out. But then something amazing happened.
Though thrown out at first, the boy, excited by his success,
kept on running to second base. The home crowd, at first
embarrassed, rose to their feet as the boy rounded second
and headed for third. He kept on running, all the way to home
plate, where he was mobbed by his jubilant teammates.
Stay with it. Live and learn, and success, in a variety of forms,
is assured.
